Addiction Medicine Consult Service (AMCS) (300-1093) Courtenay/Comox

The successful candidate will provide General Practitioner (GP) or Specialist (SP) Addiction Medicine services to clients in acute care who may be admitted for a primary condition other than Substance Use Disorder, but whose assessment, treatment and discharge plan is strengthened through an addiction medicine consultation.

AMCS supports substance use treatment through assessment and diagnosis, symptom management (particularly for difficult withdrawal symptoms), treatment initiation during hospitalization including opioid agonist therapy, post discharge planning and liaison with community-based treatment resources.

The successful candidate, as part of the multidisciplinary team, will collaborate closely with Nursing, Social Work, Mental Health Support Workers, as well as peer support workers and individuals with lived experience.
