Bluebird Nest Box Monitor

Overview

Summary: VARC monitors 400 bluebird boxes in the Merrit area from May to August. Volunteers are allocated a route of 15-20 boxes and check them every 10 days. All materials, information and training are provided.

About This Opportunity

Become part of a local team of over 20 people that help monitor the Mountain and Western Bluebirds as they return to the area for the breeding season. Once every 10 days, we ask you to check on 15 - 20 boxes and report back to us as to which species is using the box, if they have eggs or chicks and the estimated age of the chicks. We will provide training and materials to get you up to speed and put you in touch with the rest of the team.
