Position Summary: An introduction to central topics in the history and philosophy of science from the era of post‑Enlightenment Romanticism to the modern era of nuclear energy and the World Wide Web, including discussion of changing social attitudes to science; science in relation to technology and industrialization; relations between science, politics and war; the emergence of Big Science; and social policy in relation to scientific and technological innovation.
