Hydraulic Design Engineer - Research and Development

Summary of the role The Hydraulic Design Engineer – Research and Development will support the hydraulic design process through research projects in fluid dynamics and the development of new numerical methods. Also, the candidate will support the personnel related to design of hydraulic passageways of hydro turbines at all stages for both new units, runner replacements and rehabilitation projects.

This mandate will include the following:

Main tasks

Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses

Develop new analytical and numerical methods and tools to support hydraulic design tasks.

Additional tasks

Definition, development, maintenance, and modification of hydraulic engineering tools and processes

Support for bids, including preliminary design and design reviews

Analysis of design requirements

Development of hydraulic designs for turbine components of various types
