Apply knowledge of individual nutrients, their food sources, and functions in the body to maximize health benefits and meet nutrition recommendations. Describe relationships among nutrition, health and disease. Access and utilize external nutrition information, evaluate the nutritional quality of foods and beverages, and reinforce positive healthy eating habits.
The science of nutrients and their role in the body and in health, factors influencing food intake, dietary assessment and guidance, nutrition and physical activity, and current nutrition issues.
