Laboratory Assistant – LifeLabs

Status: Part Time Regular Float

Schedule: Mondays to Saturdays, 2 days off (may not be consecutive)

Minimum 20 hours per week; must be available for full‑time hours. Travel from Cowichan to Langford required.

Union: BCGEU collective agreement.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, request required information, explain specimen collection process, and ensure compliance with test protocol.
• Perform phlebotomies and connect/disconnect Holter monitors, 24‑hour blood pressure monitoring, and ECG tracings.
• Collect special test specimens such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, documenting results.
• Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries, and follow up on requests.
• Enter patient demographics, requisition information and other details for test processing.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
