Maintenance Mechanic

Summary The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for general maintenance and repair requirements as established by the Maintenance Supervisor, Supervisory Healthcare Engineer, or Chief of Engineering, for the Northport NY VA Medical Center. Work includes the maintenance, repair and minor improvement of all buildings and structures, masonry work, plastering and cement finishing work, surface preparation, painting and refinishing of all interior and exterior surfaces, along with various other duties. Responsibilities Major duties include but are not limited to: Altering, modifying and minor construction of items and structures such as: framework, staircases, doors' and windows, concrete form building, installing finished paneling and interior and exterior trim, installing metal studded partitions, steel door bucks, metal and wood doors, locksets and related hardware.
