Medical Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities include but are not limited to processing all patient test requests, verifying correct identity of specimens, evaluating specimen quality, ensuring proper collection site and data, preparing specimens for testing if required, and distributing to appropriate testing areas. Performs laboratory procedures such as order entry of tests using LIS, recognizing and resolving problems, responding to hospital and computer downtimes, identifying and separating specimens for outside laboratories, and monitoring the computerized tube system according to established protocols. These procedures are performed under supervision of licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist personnel and require independent judgment and interpretation. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas, employ mandatory safety devices and procedures.
