ACORN Canada is a nationwide community union that empowers low‑to‑moderate income people to influence policy at national levels. The Ottawa & Gatineau area seeks an organizer to build and expand neighbourhood groups, develop campaigns and coordinate direct action.

Responsibilities

• Build and expand neighbourhood groups through direct community engagement.
• Develop and implement building, neighbourhood, and municipal campaigns in partnership with community leaders.
• Plan, coordinate and lead neighbourhood meetings, press conferences, town halls, protests, sit‑ins and other direct actions, including strategic planning, logistics, leadership development, media relations, communications and outreach.
• Represent ACORN in neighbourhoods and at external meetings or events.
• Collaborate with the Lead Organizer to learn ACORN organizing methods and techniques.
