The Opportunity to ensure Asylum with Dignity

Canada for years has been welcoming and resettling refugees from many countries around the world. Yet we have no system to support people driven from their homes by violence and persecution who are asking for protection at our doorstep. At the same time we are weakening the legal foundations of our asylum system. The backtracking on due process and the lack of a fair and coordinated response from all levels of government fails those who have a right to asylum, puts local governments and community groups in short‑term reaction mode, and leaves Canadians shocked that so many refugees end up homeless. CCR is calling for a National System for Asylum with Dignity and seeks to mobilize its members and allies to engage decision makers and the public to implement these solutions.
