Description
The Polysomnographic Technologist (Sleep Technologist) performs and analyzes comprehensive night-time and day-time studies for the purpose of detecting and treating sleep disorders. The Sleep Technologist prepares the patients for monitoring, obtains and documents the patients’ history and educates the patients on sleep testing, sleep disorders, and relevant treatments. During data acquisition, the Sleep Technologist monitors the collection of data to ensure proper quality and addresses any technical issues. The Sleep Technologist constantly assesses and adjusts any therapy applied to the patients. The Sleep Technologist is also responsible for tending to the patients’ needs. They will document qualitative observations throughout the collection and create summary reports. The Sleep Technologist analyzes (scores) the data acquired during the collection and composes a quantitative report for the Sleep Specialist to interpret.
