Resident Geologist

Overview

Resident Geologist – Minerals and Petroleum Division, Government of Nunavut.

The Minerals and Petroleum Division is building a sustainable resource exploration and development sector across Nunavut. The Resident Geologist advises government and communities, promotes a sustainable mineral industry, supports community capacity, and interprets statutes such as the Nunavut Mining Regulations, Nunavut Land Use Plan, Nunavut Agreement, and related legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and guidance to government and Nunavut communities on mineral exploration and development.
• Interpret and apply the Nunavut Mining Regulations, Nunavut Land Use Plan, Nunavut Agreement, and other relevant policies and legislation.
• Support the development of community capacity to benefit from mineral resource exploration and development.
