Senior Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Implements safety management programs to eliminate hazards, mitigate risk, and align with the Metrolinx Safety Management Systems; implements corrective action plans to ensure non-compliance issues are addressed appropriately.
• Reviews incident investigations report tracks and analyses accident and injury trends to identify areas for improvement and development and recommend intervention strategies that enhance safety awareness and reduce accidents; prepares safety performance reports for management review.
• Leads and performs safety assurance audits and inspections of the work of business units and external contractors to identify safety hazards associated with the work performed.
• Leads and coordinates with a variety of internal departments to establish annual safety objectives and performance indicators; coordinates with management to develop safety goals, objectives, safety initiatives, and action plans.
