The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary is hiring a Sessional Instructor to teach ENME 317 L01 Mechanics of Solids I in the Fall 2026 term.
Course Description
Review of axial‑force, shear‑force, bending moment and torque diagrams. Review of vector and matrix algebra. Kinematics of deformation and strain. Concept of stress. Constitutive equations. States of plane stress and plane strain. Solutions to elementary elasticity problems—axial force, torsion, bending, shear force. Deflection of beams. Euler buckling. Yield criteria.
Course Schedule
- Lecture: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 10:00–10:50 AM
Qualifications
Minimum a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Demonstrated background in the subject matter. Proven teaching experience or potential for excellent teaching ability. ...
