SPECIALIST COUNSEL (3-5 years’ Mining or Exploration Experience)

Responsibilities

Our Legal team is seeking to fill a fulltime position based in its downtown Toronto office. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of in-house and/or private practice mining experience gained at a top law firm or corporate. This role will focus on supporting BHP’s global Exploration team and North American legacy assets (consisting of several closed mines). You will support exploration deals, including negotiating and advising on earn-in agreements, option agreements, joint venture agreements, and ensuring regulatory compliance in multiple jurisdictions globally. You will need the ability to tackle problems, determine practical solutions and build relationships with internal clients.
