The Stollery Philip C. Etches Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (PCE NICU) located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, is a 69 funded bed unit that accepts babies from all over Northern Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, and is characterized by high acuity and high activity. The program utilizes a Family Centered Care philosophy within an interdisciplinary team model and is the only NIDCAP (Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program) training center in Canada. The Program has a dedicated Resuscitation and Stabilization Team (RST) who respond to the high-risk case-room at the Lois Hole Hospital. The Program is involved in several quality improvement initiatives. As a dedicated nursing student, you play a crucial role as an essential member of our dynamic and collaborative healthcare team.
