Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor of French and Francophone Studies

Position Overview

The Department of French and Francophone Studies at Carleton College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in French, beginning September 1, 2026. Areas of specialization are open.

Responsibilities

• Teach French language and literature courses from beginning/intermediate to advanced seminar level.
• Teach two courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
• Complete a teaching load of 4 courses during the year, spread across three ten‑week terms.
• Engage a broad student body with a dynamic, creative, and communicative teaching style.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in French, Francophone Studies, or a related field.
• Strong teaching experience, preferably with undergraduate and residential liberal arts students.
